Local SEO Services in the UAE and Gulf

Local search in the UAE and the wider Gulf has its own rules: two languages, addresses without postcodes, customers who message before they call, and hours that change for a month every year.

Our office is in Amritsar, India, and we work with businesses in the UAE and Gulf entirely online, at the same one-time prices as everywhere else.

How local search works in the UAE and Gulf

Customers search in English and Arabic, and in a multinational city like Dubai in several other languages as well. Searches name the area, such as Dubai Marina, Deira, Al Barsha or Khalifa City, far more often than the city, and frequently a landmark or mall.

WhatsApp is the default way to contact a business. A profile and website without a clear WhatsApp or messaging route lose enquiries that a phone number alone will not capture.

Hours need care. Opening times change during Ramadan, and the weekend moved to Saturday and Sunday for most of the UAE in 2022. Special hours on the profile should be updated each year.

Listings and directories worth having

  • Google Business Profile, Apple Maps and Bing Places
  • Yellow Pages UAE and Connect.ae
  • 2GIS, which is widely used for navigation in Dubai
  • Zomato and Talabat for restaurants and cafes
  • Facebook and Instagram, which carry a lot of local discovery

Accuracy matters more than volume. A dozen correct listings do more than hundreds of automated ones. See how local citations work.

Name, address and phone format

There are no postal codes, so addresses rely on building, street, area and emirate. In Dubai, the Makani number identifies a building precisely. Choose one transliteration of Arabic names and use it everywhere, and write numbers in the international format, such as +971 4 XXX XXXX.

Rules to be aware of

A business on Google should match its trade licence: same name, same activity, real premises. The UAE’s personal data protection law applies to collecting customer details, and advertising rules are stricter than in many markets, particularly for healthcare, which needs regulator approval.

This is general information, not legal advice. Check the rules that apply to your business.
