Local SEO for Electricians
Electricians get two very different kinds of customer from Google: the homeowner whose power has just gone off, and the one planning a rewire, a new consumer unit or an EV charger. Each searches differently, and a good local SEO setup answers both.
What customers type
- emergency electrician near me
- EV charger installation your city
- house rewire cost
- electrician your suburb
- fuse box replacement near me
Example search patterns. We research the real phrases and volumes for your city before any work starts.
How customers search for electricians
Emergency electrical searches behave like plumbing ones: phone in hand, Map Pack, call. Planned work is different. Someone pricing a rewire or an EV charger reads pages, looks for certification and often asks for two or three quotes.
Newer services are worth separate attention. Searches for EV charger installation, solar and battery work and smart-home wiring have grown quickly, and far fewer electricians have a dedicated page for them than for general repairs.

Google Business Profile setup for electricians
Electrician is the natural primary category. Secondary categories only help where they reflect real work, such as electrical installation or lighting.
Category names vary a little between countries and Google updates the list, so we check what is available for your profile and what the businesses outranking you use. Everything stays inside Google’s guidelines.
This is the core of our Google Business Profile service.
- Named services. Fault finding, rewiring, consumer unit or panel upgrades, EV chargers, lighting, testing and certificates.
- Domestic, commercial or both. Say which. A landlord looking for an inspection certificate and a shop needing a refit search differently.
- Certification. Customers look for it: NICEIC or NAPIT in the UK, a state or provincial licence elsewhere. Put it in the description and on the site.
- Photos of finished work. Neat boards, installed chargers and completed lighting jobs. Real photos beat stock images every time.
Website pages that work for electricians
- Separate pages for emergency call-outs, rewiring, panel or consumer unit upgrades and EV chargers
- A page for landlords or commercial clients if you serve them
- Certificates and registration numbers where customers expect them
- A quote form that asks the three questions you always ask on the phone
Each page has one job and is written around the search it answers. The profile links to the site, and the site confirms what the profile says.
That is what we build with our SEO website service, with domain, hosting, on-page SEO and schema included.
Reviews for electricians
Electrical work is invisible once the wall is closed up, so reviews carry more weight than photos. Ask customers to mention the type of job. A review that says “fitted our EV charger in half a day” does more for the next EV customer than five stars alone.

Full pricing and conditionsLocal SEO for electricians: common questions
What should an electrician list as services on Google?
Every real service by name: emergency repairs, rewiring, panel or consumer unit upgrades, EV charger installation, lighting, inspections and certificates. Each one helps the profile match a specific search.
Is it worth having a separate page for EV charger installation?
Usually yes. It is a distinct search with distinct questions about cost, charger types and grants, and it deserves its own page.
How do electricians rank in nearby towns?
With service areas set correctly on the profile and a genuine page on the website for each main town, describing the work you do there.
